About Homeward Bound Veterinary Care

Katherine Rist, DVM

I graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. During my first four years of practice, I was an emergency and general practitioner in St. Louis, MO. I then spent a year as a traveling relief veterinarian before landing in Salt Lake City in May 2021. I still enjoy practicing as a local emergency veterinarian when I am not helping families say goodbye at home.

The most meaningful experiences I have had as a veterinarian are during end-of-life care when owners invite me into this deeply personal moment in their lives. I am so privileged to help pet parents make the most difficult decisions and to help their beloved pets say goodbye in the comfort of their own homes.

I am a Fear-Free certified veterinarian and very passionate about making pets’ and owners’ veterinary experiences as low-stress and positive as possible.

In my free time, you can find me playing tennis, skiing, and entertaining my dog and cats.

Our Mission

At Homeward Bound Veterinary Care, our mission is to provide compassionate and dignified end-of-life care for beloved pets, ensuring their comfort and peace while offering support and understanding to their loving owners during this difficult time.
